Next County meeting is on Novemember 23 in County arms at 8pm. 

County Calendar is now up to date for the rest of the year. Cub and Scout

 challenges are on Nov 22 in Portloaise.

This year the teams are made up of 8 for both cubs and scouts. 

Winners get a weekend in April for the National finals, which is a change on last year.

Rest of the year meetings are 

November 23rd, February 1st (AGM), March 8th & June 14th.  

There will also be a planning meeting for Ventures / Rovers also in the County Arms Birr on September 28th
at the same time as the County Meeting please bring 2/3 reps from your group to sort out their 
County events for the year.
They will also elect their County Reps this night.
 Congratulations:Congratulations to Donnacha Carroll and Sean Stone from Birr who completed the National Venture Challenge this year and obtained Cert, Badge and woggle. I think it’s the first time anyone from the Slieve Bloom has competed in this. Well done to both of you and your Group.
Congratulations to both Camross and Roscrea for their performance in the Pheonix Challenge. Photos can

Both obtained Silver awards and Camross also were presented with the Spirit of Scouting for their Subcamp.

Patrol Leader Training:

Training will be in Larch Hill from the Friday Oct 2 - 4. Cost for indoor

accomadation will be 17 euro. Please bring

outdoor gear as will be running activities out side as well inside.

Full programme not finalized but will include a number of team building exercises,

 some exercises and info on leadership styles, what type a leader are you, activities in larch hill,

Court of Honour and its functions, orienteering, open fire cooking,

camp fire songs and sketches and pranks.

 Slieve Bloom Challenge  UPDATE!
 
I have the badge design done and ready to send to the sewers! 
 
 Leaders I am proud to announce the Slieve Bloom County Challenge.
 The idea behind the challenge is to encourage groups to attend County events. At county events, scouts (all sections) get an opportunity to meet and mix with their friends from our scouting county. 
 The Challenge is for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers  and Scouters in the Slieve Bloom County. 
 
 Also if you attend a Provincial or National event this will count towards the overall number of events you have attended through out the year.
 Closing date is June 13 2009 as this is the last planned County event (Beaver Fun day). 
 Troops will be asked to send in the list of names from their sections that have completed the challenge. At each county event we will have a register of participants so we will cross check the lists.
 
 We will have a special "something" for all those who complete the challenge and get listed in the Hall of Fame (special spot on web site) and maybe more. Same rules applies for Scouters of that section, so Beaver leader must attend 3 events, cub leader 3 and scout leader 4.
